Alex’ extensive industry experience and proven successes at the head of Chapman Design Group are the foundation from which UNION31 grows. He has spearheaded numerous projects in North America and overseas, including the exclusive Cotton House resort on Mustique and the Trump Riverside development on the Upper West Side of New York City. Alex is recognized for an elegant aesthetic of sophisticated simplicity and the ability to seamlessly blend genres, periods and cultures.

While living in London, England Alex began working in the field of design; he immigrated to Canada in 1976 and soon after established his own company. Over the course of his career he has received several awards including the National Home Builder’s MIRM award; the American Society of Interior Designers’ Best of Competition, as well as, ARIDO’s Gold Award of Excellence. Indicative of his success, his work has been featured in such prominent publications as Architectural Digest and he is a sought-after speaker for industry trade shows.

For Alex, personal and professional interests are a natural extension of one another and art and design, a way of life; he draws inspiration from a variety of sources which lends a distinctive spirit to his body of work.
